Tracey Johnston

Tracey is a Painter and Printmaker who exhibits widely throughout the UK. She lives and works in rural Aberdeenshire but divides her time between her home in the North East of Scotland and Northern Italy. She studied at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen and graduated first in 1992 with a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art and later in 1995 with a Post Graduate Diploma/ M.A. in Fine Art.

Travel continues to influence her work since being awarded a John Kinross Scholarship from the Royal Scottish Academy in 1992 to spend three months in Florence, Italy. In 2004 Tracey was shortlisted for the prestigious Alistair Salvesen Art Scolarship. Tracey describes her work as a personal visual diary of her emotional reaction to the world around her, cradled in the  influenced of  the classical world, religious art and architecture and enhanced by the opportunity to travel.

Over the years Tracey has also worked as a lecturer in Printmaking at Gray’s School of Art and a tutor for summer classes and childrens classes. From 1996 to 2004 Tracey worked as an Archaeological Illustrator for Aberdeen City Council and continues to undertake commissions and design work.
